Bigg Boss 9 is here, 5 Reasons why we love Bigg Boss!

Bigg Boss is starting from October 11 and here we are with the 5 reasons why we miss Bigg Boss
Salman Khan:  Sabki aan, Sabki Shaan –Salman Bhaijaan is probably the first and foremost reason for the soaring popularity of Bigg Boss. He brings in the glamour, humour, solemnity and spice just in right proportions giving the audience a rousing experience. His jabs directed at erring contestants or his utmost empathy for the underdog may not fit his role of the host, but he does it unabashedly anyway and the audience loves it. When he took over as the host of Bigg Boss in its fourth season, TRPs went up exponentially. The season finale had the highest TRP rating the show has ever had. According to TAM midweek data, Season 4 of Bigg Boss touched peak TVR of 9.15. Every time Salman loses his cool on Bigg Boss, channel TRPs sky rockets and whoever does upset salman isn’t let off the hook easy neither by Salman nor his audience.

- Lets admit. We all love a scoop of controversy. Whether it’s the fist fight between Andy and Kushal, or a showdown between Dolly Bindra and Manoj Tiwari; the show Bigg Boss sprints on an unlimited supply of controversies.  We love to see our favorite celebs love, fight, shout, cry, and sometimes get married on the show. Yes! We are talking about Ali Merchant and Sara Khan’s dramatic wedding on the show. We savor all the petty drama, name-calling, constant whinges and the occasional coddling. Add to that Salman’s ‘Tippni’ or spicy elucidation on the weeks happening and subsequent repartee satiates the audiences need for ‘masalaentertainment’.
The up- close and personal angle– We Indians love our celebrities, so much so that we worship them. Cricketers, movies stars, roadies, pornstars, politicians, criminals and just about anybody who is lucky enough to have had limelight showered upon them, we want to know everything about them and what better way than watching them on television with 80 cameras tracking their every move and microphones broadcasting their deepest secrets to a nation of billions. We want to see their vulnerabilities to empathize with them. We want to see their spiteful side and their occasional outbursts We want to see them cook, clean, wash and do just about everything theaam junta does, only with a bit of panache. History is witness to fact that the show is not only profiting from these celebs but is instrumental in getting them a new shot at their  fading careers like Armaan Malik and Tanisha Mukherjee; and a slight upward mobility to the new faces like Eli Avram and Gautam Gulati.
Tasks– The most entertaining part apart from the controversies are the tasks which have been so shrewdly designed so as to get to the celebs – tests them physically and mentally , exhausts their patience and sometimes create rifts between warring groups on the show. The tasks sometimes are outrageous, like in season 7 when Ratan was asked to take a dip in a bathtub full of cow dung; and the tasks are not to be taken lightly or one might end up like Gautam Gulati, polishing hundreds of pair of shoes. Our favorite task from the previous season was ‘Gautam city’ task where Gautam Gulati was made the dictator of the house and the housemates were to serve at his command, except they had a secret mission. And the end result? The catchy ‘We love, We love Gauti’ anthem for the ‘Gautam city’!
Simmering Romance and pitiful heartbreaks – Each season the audience awaits the cupid to strike atleast one couple at the big boss house. It is sort of tradition really. From season 1 to 8, the sheer amount of hearts kindling reminds one of the pubescent phase in High School. Aryan Vaid and Anupama Verma, Gauhar Khan and Kushaal Tondon, Armaan Malik and Tanisha, Upen Patel and Karishma Tanna . These couples can be found canoodling in the obscure corners of the house. All of us ofcourse remember the infamous Veena Malik and Ashmit Patel kiss. Where there is love, there is also heartbreak and Bigg Boss house has witnessed quite a few. To recount a few we have, The ‘Dimpy Mahajan and Rahul Mahajan divorce saga’ , ‘Gautam Gulati and Diandra’s post kiss breakup’, “Ejaaz heart being stomped by Gauhar Khan’. Ofcourse a lot of the romances and heartbreaks were touted to be publicity gimmicks, but we aren’t complaining!
