Is Bigg Boss 9 a rip-off of US Big Brother 9

Were your grey cells at work instantly after you heard the 'Double Trouble' game on Bigg Boss 9? Well then you're not the only one. Salman Khan recently launched the first promo of BB9 and as far as the concept goes, all we know is this year, the show will be more of a 'double trouble' of sorts.

The promo had a guy and a girl tied up together, wearing the same T-shirt, trying to free themselves from each other. Conflict, arguments, freedom, captivity and friendships- Bigg Boss has always encapsulated all that and more. With BB9, it seems no different.

Now what does this double trouble mean? Strikingly, the logic we applied sounds extremely similar to that of US Big Brother 9. Here's the lowdown.

Double-Trouble?
Like we already said, there might be two possibilities on the show. Either the show will have only real life couples participating or the show will randomly pair up individual contestants with each other, making unusual pairs inside the house. Looking at the probable contestants who the makers have approached, we are quite sure it's the latter one the makers are adopting. Imagine if Bigg Boss paired someone like Gurmeet Ram Rahim singh Insaan with Gaurav Gera or maybe have the on-screen couple Parth Samthaan and Niti Taylor eating their heads out on national television? Seems like a crazy idea but when it's crazy, you know this is a huge possibility as well. And this is what it will be. For sure.

Similarities with US Big Brother 9!
US Big Brother 9 was woven on a similar concept where the housemates were immediately teamed up in pairs, after entering the house. The contestants had to play the game as a team, despite their individual differences. In the US version, the contestants were paired only for three weeks, post which they were allowed to live independently and play the game individually. Will Bigg Boss 9 also take the same route? It might!

Another twist?
Like the Big Brother 9 in US, there might be a shocking twist in Bigg Boss 9. What? Big Brother had a concept called the Power Couple, where the strongest pair was given the opportunity to directly evict another team from the show. And as we all know, BB is all about power politics. Will BB 9 also have a Power Couple? They might!

Pehle bhi!
Last year, the concept that was used for the first two weeks on the show was of an 'aeroplane' where the contestants had to live for almost 14 days before the original Bigg Boss house was opened for them. Playing the game in pairs, that too random ones, will not only add to more conflict between teams but the intra-team fights will be fun to watch. After all, sab TRP ka game hai, bhaiya! So, definitely, even if the makers are implementing the US Big Brother idea for this edition, it's really unlikely they will continue the show in pairs till the finale.
